What do you use to catch big catfish?

i was told that chicken breast with chery kool-aid packs mixed with it works what else could i add to give it a strong smell so catfish will know its in the water as soon as it hits. what are some baits you use and how much does it cost. also i had a little problem with my fishing reel. well the handle on it broke off some how. how and where could i get the parts to fix it.
