1 month old and a Cold...what can I do for her?

I have a one month old and she has a terrible cold. She can barely breath out of her nose and her chest seems congested too, plus a cough. She seems miserable and is having a hard time nursing and sleeping. Any ideas? I called her Dr and she said I didn't need to bring her in, that it just sounded like a cold and to use nasal saline and a bulb syringe and to elevate her bed. Any other ideas? I can't stand to see my baby sick :(
