Should she seek medical attention?

My girlfriend is pregnant, she's been coughing a lot lately mostly dry heaves, and can cough for five minutes at a time or only for a few min. It sounds painful, but she insists that she's ok and doesn't want to go to the dr. because she says that they won't be able to do anything about it. We also found out that she has placenta pre via and when she coughs she clenshes her lower abdomin. should i just make her go? I'm really concerned but i do not know what to do.
