How to get rid of cough, mucus, and runny nose?

it has been 3 days and hasn't changed a bit. i have been drinking many liquids and taking some cough medicine. my nose isn't that serious and gets clear easily, but my coughs are really loud, persistant and hurts. can someone help me with some home remedies? Mucus wont come out and REALLY hurts my throat when i sneeze or swallow small amounts of liquids.(e.g. spit) Thanks!
